A day with Terra
Illustrated Children's Book

I chose to create a story for a younger audience to represent a more serious topic of environmental changes and our impact on nature. I focused on using humour as a tool to write and illustrate a story that's enjoyable, playful, memorable as well as educational. The story considers both sides, looking at how we negatively affect the environment through our actions and offering positive solutions that can easily change the situation if we substitute some of the habits in our daily routine. This story shows children how they can, by their own decision making, change the world step by step, teaching them about the free will to act and have nature's best interest at heart.

The story is about the main character called Terra (Latin word for ‘earth’) going through her day, living like every one of us. The story is a contrast of negative experiences, metaphorically related to the environmental issues (a bad hairdresser = deforestation) and the small changes (instead of driving a car, riding a bike) bringing positive results and protecting the nature - our planet.
