This project was a submission for a competition organized by YCN. I chose to work a brief from Camden Brewery, who asked designers, illustrators and artist to come up with an idea for a print that their customer could put on their wall. They previously collaborated with well-known artists and wanted to continue their collection of complimentary prints that their customers receive after buying their beer.
The theme was called 'Fresh', and I wanted to create a poster/print that would not only represent the location of the Brewery, which in Camden Town in London, but also capture the atmosphere. My inspiration was partly influenced by the personal experience of Camden town, seeing the night and day life and the vibrancy of the place. I wanted to illustrate the feeling of having an open mind and a fresh perspective on life.
I researched the famous music eras such as Punk and Rock, that were a big influence in Camden town. The idea of fresh came from mixing all the different elements and characteristics such as a variety of music genres, different fashion styles, movements, music artists and bands, performances, food, nightlife, the architectural details such as arches and the overall industrial feel of the place. All of those were used to create my final idea where I wanted to show the fresh, rebellious, creative and fun perspective that people in Camden Town have.
